Description:

This project was undertaken as part of the Brighton and Hove City Council Planned Maintenance Framework in the Summer of 2023.

Associated Works UPVC fascias and soffits; UPVC gutters, downpipes and hopper outlets, vents and flues; UPVC door;
check and re-bed coping stones on parapet walls.

The project involved stripping the existing asphalt waterproofing to the structural wood decking ready for the installation of the new Garland UK 3 layer felt system. The new system incorporated a full tapered system across all 4 separate roof sections to allow the water to drain off the roof or to the required outlets. Other works associated with this project were the installation of new hardy plank cladding, ballasted freestanding edge protection new soffits/fascias and a new UPVC door the achieve the correct upstand height of 150mm from finish roof level.

Sussex Asphalte executed all four-roof sections totalling 253m² within the 6-week summer holiday period whilstcontending with the wettest summer in the UK for decades. Sussex Asphalte worked alongside Garland UK as their approved installer. Our operatives have been trained in the installation of all leading roofing materials manufacturers including Garland. The materials, performance and labour on this project carry a guarantee of thirty years. Effective project management meant that it was possible to keep all works to the off-term period meant we were
able to ensure that no operatives were on site once the children returned to school eliminating all health and safety risks to all site users, including vulnerable young people.
Throughout the project we kept communication with the client by way of submitting regular progress reports to the client, these were backed up by reports from manufacturers interim reports ensuring works were in line with specification and drawings, and Garland’s installation standards.
