Quotation / Estimating Services
Sussex Asphalte provides free quotes for its work, providing expert advice on the most suitable flat roof systems to undertake repairs, renewal and new roof installations.
Flat Roof Installation Systems
Sussex Asphalte has a long and successful track record in using the full range of installation systems to repair/renew existing flat roofs, and install new flat roofs. Services are provided to a wide variety of customers and buildings, from small residential roofs for domestic customers, to large commercial projects such as hospital and school roofs, and unique heritage contracts on listed buildings including St Paul’s Cathedral. Roofing Product Guarantees – Annual Roof Inspection Services
To maintain roofing product guarantees following works to a roof, an annual inspection is required by a suitably qualified and approved inspector. Sussex Asphalte can provide an annual inspection service that produces a report with photos for the client and the product supplier on the roof condition. Recommendations arising from inspection will be provided including any issues regarding associated works / peripheral issues e.g. blocked gutters.

For the past 10 years Sussex Asphalte has secured the National Federation of Roofing Contractors Health and Safety Gold Award, the highest acceptable award available.
Julian Coulter, Director Sussex Asphalte is a Member of the Institute of Roofing, and sits on the Board as the Vice Chairman of the Mastic Asphalt Council.
Federation / Trade Association Membership
As part of its commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction, Sussex Asphalte is a member of the following Federations and Trade Associations:
Mastic Asphalt Council (MAC)
MAC is the trade association for the UK mastic asphalt industry. MAC represents more than 90 companies. Members include mastic asphalt manufacturers, the contractors responsible for its installation such as Sussex Asphalte, and associated suppliers of equipment and services. In 2017 Sussex Asphalte Director Julian Coulter became the Vice Chairman on the MAC Board.
National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC):
NFRC is the largest roofing trade association in the UK, promoting quality contractors and products, ensuring that its members are at the forefront of all roofing developments. NFRC actively ensures that all members offer high standards of workmanship and sound business practice through a strict code of practice and vetting procedure, including site inspections and adhering to the Government endorsed standards.
The British Safety Council is dedicated to making sure no one is injured or made ill at work.
Buy with Confidence is a government sponsored scheme. All companies on the Buy with Confidence website have been vetted and approved by Trading Standards to ensure they operate in a legal honest and fair way.
CITB aims to work with employers in construction to encourage training to build a safe, professional and fully qualified workforce.
ConstructionLine is a register for pre-qualified Construction companies, used by the Construction Industry in the UK. Companies have to meet certain criteria to qualify for ConstructionLine membership.
CHAS runs an assessment and accreditation scheme to improve health and safety standards across the UK. Sussex Asphalte is registered with and accredited by CHAS.
IMA is an association of Icopal-approved roofing contractors who offer a guaranteed level of exceptional service, skills and expertise.
Government Endorsed Standards: TrustMark is the only Government endorsed scheme for trades in and around the home. Registered firms receive accreditation after thorough vetting and on-site inspections to ensure the firm is raising industry standards. TrustMark accreditation gives customers reassurance of quality and protection from rogue traders.
Sussex Asphalte has pledged support to the NFRC Safe to Torch Campaign which seeks to significantly reduce the risk of roof fire when using gas torches, either to dry out roofs or when used to install torch-on membranes.
Sussex Asphalte is registered with the Prompt Payment Code scheme that is designed to support business through prompt payments to suppliers and subcontractors.
Competent Roofer Scheme:
Competent Roofer is the Government-licensed Scheme that allows professional roofing contractors to self-certify that their roof refurbishment work complies with Building Regulations within England and Wales. If 50% or more of your roof needs to be replaced*, then under the Building Regulations, you must upgrade your installation to the current minimum standard and your Local Authority needs to be notified a minimum of 48 hours before work commences. Failure to comply could result in an enforcement notice from your Local Authority.
*Scheme does not apply to repairs or new work.
Competent – Competent Roofer contractors are fully audited and inspected prior to joining the scheme, and regularly throughout their membership.
Compliant – Registered Competent Roofer contractors must not only work to the current Building Regulations, they are also audited against the most up to date British Standards.
Certified – Competent Roofer members are uniquely authorised to self-certify that their work complies with the current Building Regulations.
Covered – A ten-year insurance backed guarantee is included with notification of roof refurbishment works up to a value of £50,000 where the building height is four storeys or less (also available for commercial/industrial works).
