Sussex Asphalte Continue to deliver social value over the summer

As part of our pledge and commitment of the tender process for planned maintenance works to Council owned buildings, Brighton and Hove City council encourage contractors to undertake social value projects that benefit the local community be that work on council or community buildings.

Sussex Asphalte is renowned for completing works on the local schools during the summer holidays and whilst on site as part of the framework this summer we undertook social value works for each individual school which included, the cleaning and painting of Hove Park Lower secondary schools major clock, supplying extra scaffold on Balfour primary school so that they could clean the windows, reroofing three sheds at Mile Oak Primary school so equipment was not damaged in winter months and cleaning a small courtyard and jet washing at Brackenbury School.

Commenting on the works carried out Brackenbury School Bursar, Chris Hayward said:

“We would like to say that we were very impressed with the workmen and thank you also for the extra work in our courtyard in clearing the weeds and cleaning the ground. It look’s amazing!”

Whilst these works are of a small nature these works help provide service to the schools which relieves pressure on the school caretakers and budget which in turn enables the school to invest other funds into other areas of the school such as resources for the children to benefit from.
