Project Description

Installation:

Reinforced Bitumen Membrane

Description:

This project involved the re-roofing of two flat roofs made up of timber and woodwool slabs, incorporating a tapered insulation scheme and associated works. The total roof area was 412m2.

The materials selected for this project was a Garland Waterproofing System, comprising Garland Contact Primer; Stressply Self Adhesive Metal Lined Vapour Control Layer; Tapered Insulation Scheme (130mm); Garland Insul-lock Insulation adhesive; Garland Torch Flex Ultra Vent adhesive Underlay; and Garland Stressply Flex Plus Capsheet, with a mineral surface finish.

Associated works to the project included renewing rainwater outlets, cavity trays, the removal of parapet coping stones and replacement with the Garland Waterproofing System terminated by GRP Trim.

Sussex Asphalte successfully managed the works ensuring that it was completed in six weeks during the school’s summer holiday. This meant that we avoided operatives working on site during term time, minimising disruption to the school and health and safety risks.

Sussex Asphalte is an approved installer of Garland Waterproofing Systems, whose operatives have been properly trained in the installation of this system. The materials performance and labour on the Hangleton Junior School Project carry a guarantee of 30 years

Additional Information:

Sussex Asphalte acted as the Principal Contractor for this project, liaising directly with the client, Brighton and Hove City Council. As Principal Contractor Sussex Asphalte engaged and co-ordinated a variety of contractors to undertake complementary works.

The project was one of three Brighton and Hove School projects commissioned by the Council that required the co-ordinated project management by Sussex Asphalte across all three sites to ensure works were all completed during the school summer holidays in 2017.
