Sussex Asphalte were employed by our long standing client Crowther Overton Hart Surveyors to undertake the resurfacing of this 260m2 asphalt terrace and walkway. Mastic Asphalt was chosen for its durability and performance, given the heavy foot traffic that the area will receive, grey striated GRC promenade tiles were chosen to protect the newly laid mastic asphalt and enable residents to use garden furniture etc without risk of damaging the asphalt The existing defective asphalt coverings were stripped back to concrete deck and a new warm roof system installed.
As the terrace is above commercial shops and the terrace also provides direct access to residential properties it was imperative not to compromise any internal water ingress to properties below as well as keeping access available to residents at most times. , so our charge hand and operatives had to take the upmost care with regards to health and safety and the moving and laying of molten asphalt around the public whilst keeping residents and client up to date with the progress of the project.
IKO Permaphalt Mastic Asphalt
The build up was a IKO felt vapour control layer and we insulated with a 50mm PIR insulation board using 25mm board for the gutter that we fashioned at the front edge of the terrace, followed by two coats of mastic asphalt, solar reflective paint and GRC promenade tiles on the walkways
