Description:

Preston Park is the largest urban park in the city of Brighton & Hove and situated in the middle is the Chalet Cafe with serves as a restaurant cafe 7 days a week and changing rooms for various sports activities in the park. The walkways surround the cafe above and it was identified that the walkways were in need of total refurbishment. The existing coverings were stripped fully back to the concrete deck and IKO permaphalt Mastic Asphalt was laid in two coats. First layer 10mm roofing grade on and including sheathing felt underlay. Second layer 15mm pavinggrade mastic asphalt with added 6mm granite chippings at 25%.

Health & Safety was key to the smooth running of this project as the cafe was open to the public whilst we worked above, our operatives had to ensure that molten asphalt was safely transported from the mixer to the working area as well as ensuring that nearby decorative gardens were protected.
