Sussex Asphalte Apprentices Pass Second Year

Sussex Asphalte’s Luke Burns and Mark Love have passed their year 2 Mastic Asphalt Apprenticeship and their synoptic practical assignment with great results. The apprentices completed the assignment to a high standard and showcased mastic asphalts versatility as a waterproofing product. Both attend Hackney College on a day release basis where apprentices learn to make their own tools, asphalt floats, learn theory and practice the highly skilled hand craft of laying asphalt. All training takes place in a workshop set up as a real life work site which includes a 1 tonne asphalt mixer.

Sussex Asphalte as always is committed to investing in the future of the trade and both Luke and Mark follow a long line of Mastic Asphalters who have been supported by the company through their apprenticeship including directors Julian and Matthew Coulter who attended the college.

Luke and Mark will now move on to year 3 of their apprenticeship where they will continue to apply skills learnt at college out on site furthering their career in Mastic Asphalt.
